I see Parliament Hill!

Hi Dudes,

Sorry for not updating my blog. Just a quick update: Finance 416 exam sucked, but I am over and done with it. Pray that I do ok.

On the other hand, I am in Ottawa and will be for the next two weeks so I won't be blogging much. Oooooh, I saw Parliament Hill today, and will be going there for a couple more times this week. We are meeting with the US Ambassador to Canada tomorrow!!! SO EXCITED!

Oook, will tell you more stories from Ottawa when I have a chance!

Ta!

I got a GREEN Shopping Bag!

I went grocery shopping at Superstore today and I was SO EXCITED when I saw their Green Shopping Bag for sale right at the entrance. It really caught my attention because of the words like green.earth.water.energy.responsibility. Plus, the picture of the green bottle is so cool and I am so for recyclable-usable items so it made real sense to get one. And of course, it has the whole social theme on the bag which I want to be part of.

To some extent, I am glad that PC (brand) is emphasizing green initiatives. But on the other hand, it may be true that I am just another ethical consumer part of their target market which they know will purchase such items. It is also good for the company to flash out their green projects to boost their corporate social responsibility image. Now, maybe it is a marketing scheme (most probably yes), but it may also be that PC is genuine in wanting to be more environmentally friendly.

In any case, I LOVE my GREEN shopping bag!

I think I am addicted...

I ate a whole bag of BBQ Lays Potato Chips in a day -- AGAIN!

Beer Gardens!

Friday was a beautiful beautiful sunny day. I woke up feeling exuberant although slightly tired from exam the day before. It hit me that Friday morning in bed that I am DONE with University. Ok, not officially done done since I still have one paper to hand in and two exams to write still. But seriously, I am going to be graduating and working in the real workforce -- like a real adult. Yeah, a REAL adult. How scary is that? In any case, I felt good on my last University day amidst the few meetings I had to attend. I am really excited to finish my exams, fly to Ottawa for a two weeks Navigators Conference then come back to Edmonton to start work. I have a good feeling about this new chapter of my life which will be starting real soon.

Oh, and no, I did not get intoxicated on my last day of school as Gen suggested I should. She thought it would be funny for me to come to Navs Party all drunk! I only had one drink -- just for the fun of it. Beer isn't so much my cup of tea...there are waaay better alcohol out there :p

Chocolate Overdose

I am not feeling very well. My tummy is churning a little. But it was only a small piece of chocolate cake -- what harm could it do to ya? Well, you could say that again, uhuh. You see, I was craving chocolate cake all of last week and finally went to buy some over the weekend -- a four pieces in one pack kinda deal. I've downed two pieces in 4 days -- I have half a slice per day. Today I am feeling kinda awful, and I am not sure why. You see, I still WANT to eat them, but when they are swimming in my little tummy, I don't feel well. I've concluded that there are two reasons why chocolate is not agreeing with me:

1) I am having a chocolate overdose

2) My Fair Trade research and knowledge of slave kids used in cocoa production is subconsciously affecting me physically.

Take your pick.

On another note, my Fair Trade presentation went very well today, thank God. Please pray for my Environmental Law Final Exam tomorrow -- I am gona fail *cry*

Tonight I'm feeling...

Highly unconventional. Maybe a dose of that is necessary in my quest to become a social changemaker? After all, they don't always go with the flow and more often than not they defy social norms. Ok, and I am sure you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about. Anyway there goes half an hour trying to decide on doing the "socially responsible" thing or going with the conventional business professionalism that the Business School has tried to instill in me.

Also, I think my non fair-trade chocolate cake only gave me a high for 10 minutes. The sugar did not make a whole lot of difference and I am feeling dead tired.

Good night.

Ouch!

I think I may have sprained my left ankle from yesterday's adventurous run out in the slippery sidewalk. It hurts and I'm kinda limping.

Does it heal by itself or do I have to put on those bandage things?

The craziest thing I've ever done

Just a week ago it was warm, bright and sunny at an average of 0c. Then came the weekend and weather dipped to an average of -8c. Oh, the Albertan weather don't ya just love it?

Okok, I'll go to the 'crazy' thing that is put up on the blog heading. Melissa (my neighbour) and I planned to go for a run this morning at 8am, but what we did not realize was that it was gona snow this morning. So when she called me this morning all perked up and said, "Ready?" I was gona say "But, but it's snowing!"...then stopped myself short and said "Yep, in 2 minutes."

So off we went in the crazy weather snowing away with wind chills of -15c for a run. And stupid me, I only wore a sweatshirt!!! Well, I didn't think it was gona be that WINDY and I got a lil cold but it wasn't too bad once you started running and getting warm. I must admit that this is by far one of the craziest thing I have ever done: running for 55 minutes (ok, not non-stop) outside in -8c (-15c with windchill) with snow and wind blowing in your face! I didn't realize how dramatic it was until half way I was gona get a drink from my bottled water but for some reason couldn't open it because it was frozen on the lit and realized the water had turned into ice!!! WOAH!

Anyways, I enjoyed the run, although I do hope we won't get sick since it is crunch time now. And the good news to ya all is that I have been keeping with my New Year's Resolution of exercising weekly (ok, except one week I skipped coz of midterms and the week of Reading Break). But overall, Cathy keeps me on my toes as we would run for 20 minutes on the track then go to the gym to do cardio, weights and stretches for another hour. I used to have to stop to walk for 2-3 laps while she kept on running non stop for 20 minutes, but for about 2 weeks now I can run without stopping. We might go for a Cancer Run in June...how cool is that? Wana be on our team?
