Decisions.

School is starting next week, and for the life of me, I can't decide which course to drop!!

You see, I have two more precious options and I want to take three, but naturally I can't.

The options are:

1) Economics of Developing Countries
2) African Politics
3) Corporate Social Responsibility & Social Entrepreneurship

More econs will definitely help me in my career. Ok, so maybe African Politics is useless to me, but I had begged the prof to take me in because I didn't have two pre-reqs and just when she agreed, CSR & SE was offered. Sigh. I am really seriously thinking of doing SRI (Socially Responsible Investing) as my career, and this course will help quite a bit as a starting point. For the CSR course to be offered at the UOA, it is actually quite a miracle because very few business school cares about issues like that. And you know what, only six, yes, SIX students are registered in the course.

So anyways, I can't decide which course to drop. Please help...

Grace, don't you just love those dilemnas? I think the best thing for you to do would be to drop the African Politics, although it is the course that would interest me the most. As for the prof... it will probably be a relief for him/her to have a smaller class. Also, you probably never see that prof again in your life, since the university is big, and you are graduating after this semester! Yay!

Jolie,

You see, among the three courses I am MOST interested to study African Politics. Hmm, and maybe it may be useful to me when and if I analyze the African market if there are investment opportunities there in my future career?

Nah, the class is already very small and there is a long waiting list really. I just feel bad too dropping it after almost getting into a fight with the prof coz she thinks I'm definitely unqualified to take the course, and she bringing it to the Chair and all those big hooohaa, then when she decided to take me in, I drop it. Sigh...what should I do?

Athen,

Just do it? But I don't know what to do as of yet...

Well, Grace,I suppose the next class that I would drop would be Economics in Developping Countries. I know it would be useful and interesting for you, especially coming from such a country. But you probably have already taken a similar course, right? Or else, you probably know a little about it coming from one, no?

Well, if that doesn't solve your problem, I suggest going to every class this week or for the first few days, and then note which prof is the most boring, and then drop that class!

ooo..dilemma...hmm...Pray? Once you've prayed than attend each class and well, see how things go from there.

Lina!

P.S: I can't seem to comment on your blog with my blogger ID, dunno why. Btw, I'll be in Singapore this weekend for a short reunion and holiday.

I don't have any advice on which course to drop, although it does sound like you have a decent excuse for dropping African Politics (another course you were interested came up), but then you said you're most interested in African Politics.

I'm more qualified to meddle in this stuff about Blogger comments. I can't say for sure, but the problem might be because some people are using the new version of Blogger and others are using the old one. If you're using the new Blogger and commenting on this blog, you need to click on the link for signing in using your Google account. If you're using the old Blogger, it shouldn't matter which version the blog you're commenting on uses. So I don't know if this will solve your problem.

Personally, I'd recommend switching to the new Blogger. It seems to work better, and the interface is almost the same, just with a few extra features. The only difficult part is changing your template, but that's optional.
