Nature at my backyard

I'm trying to be a better photographer. Really, how do I take close up pictures? Any professional photographers there care to give me some tips?

These are some pictures taken two days ago at my backyard. Like it? Hate it? How can I improve 'em?

babe, you actually need special lenses to take good close ups. a normal point and shoot camera won't give you much :P

if you want to get really good shots you need SLR cams, not point and shoot ones (Which is what all us peeps use to snap pics for our hols and stuff).

Digital cams are just the way of storing the image taken. the difference with slrs and what we use is the lens.

I agree and also disagree with what Min said.

To take a great close-up pictures of anything, you might need a dSLR that has a macro lens. Macro's lens enable you to bring out the tiniest detail of your subject providing you have some knowledge about lighting.

With a point and shot, you can still takes a great macro photograph. Again, move in closer to your subject [in your case, it is the flowers].

Whenever you are photographing flowers, take your time. Walk around the flowers to find the best shooting angle.

Dont rush. It ain't goin' anywhere!

Steady yourself.

Press the shutter half way down, to focus, and when you did that, press it all the way down.

I would advise you to stay still for 10 seconds after your fully pressed the shutter, to prevent any camera shakes.

Lighting is very important. Check out my latest post. The first picture was taken with sun shining from one side. It will give your pics more contrast and will certainly make your pics more lively.

Lastly, when you are shooting flowers, don't over crowded your picture.

Honestly, your black and white in this post is over crowded with details [in this case it is the flowers].

The same goes with anything photography with some minor exceptions.

Again, you can creates great if not awesome pictures with a point and shot. I know I did.

Never ever give up, and be creative.

Let your imaginations run freely...

And most importantly,.........

Don't be offended by this comment.

p/s: Its a lovely pictures for a first timer.

Well, this will be my humble opinions about photography. Dont quote me as I might be wrong!

the 1st and last pix are my favourite.

i like it how in the last pic, the stalks from the other flowers look like rays of light coming from the sun... of course i'm not very good at lighting and such... but those are pretty nice pix =D
